Stormlord-Cryomancer hybrid using Hailstorm to chain ice and bolt. Freeze-locked enemies eat massive bolt damage.

Overview

Frozen Lightning uses Hailstorm (ice and bolt trigger each other) to create elemental chain reactions. Bolt is the primary damage dealer, while ice provides freeze lockdown. Permafrost makes frozen enemies take +25% damage from your bolts. The Wizard equipment set was literally designed for this build.

Core Skills (Priority Order)

  1. Bolt Strike (Common) - Foundation. At Lv2 gives double Stormlord tags.
  2. Hailstorm (Common) - The bridge: ice and bolt trigger each other.
  3. Bolt Mastery (Legendary, S) - Bolt +60% (Lv2: +90%). Core multiplier.
  4. Storm Clouds (Legendary, S) - Bolt AoE.
  5. Charged Bolt (Mythic, S+) - Super bolt chance.
  6. Aftershock (Mythic, S+) - Stormlord capstone. Stun at Lv4-5 is “often”.
  7. Permafrost (Legendary, A) - Frozen enemies take +25% damage from everything.

Skill Level Notes

  • Bolt Strike Lv2 is a huge breakpoint: “often cast Bolt” + double Stormlord tag
  • Bolt Mastery Lv2 jumps to +90% damage (from +60%) but penalty goes to -15%
  • Aftershock Lv4-5 upgrades stun from “may” to “often” — massive CC upgrade
  • Ice skills at Lv1 are fine — you just need the freeze, not ice damage

  • Ice Volley (Common) - Consistent freeze application.
  • Bolt Volley (Common) - Consistent bolt each round.
  • Chain Arc (Common) - 25% bolt repeat chance.
  • Glacial Storm (Mythic) - Cryomancer capstone if you have tags.
  • Bolt Surge (Legendary) - More bolts.

Equipment

The Wizard Set (Sparkfrost) is perfect: Arcane Overflow casts random Ice/Bolt on attack, Subzero Field slows/freezes enemies passively. This set was designed for this exact build.

Strategy Tips

  • Hailstorm creates chain reactions: bolt → triggers ice → ice triggers bolt → more Storm Cloud procs.
  • Permafrost means frozen enemies take +25% from bolt hits. Freeze them, then burst.
  • Aftershock stun locks complement ice freeze for near-permanent CC.
  • Invest bolt skill levels, keep ice skills at Lv1-2. Bolt is the damage, ice is the utility.

The natural Wizard Set build. Bolt damage carries while ice CC and Permafrost amplification push it over the edge.
