Cryomancer Ultimate

The 1.31 frost ultimate build. The reworked Glacial Storm capstone stacks Glacial Drag slows and bursts frozen targets — the strongest spec in the game right now.

New in patch 1.31. This build is built entirely around the reworked Cryomancer ultimate. If you take one build into the 1.31 meta, take this one — and get Winter’s Dominion first.

Overview

The 1.31 Cryomancer Clash patch rebuilt the frost ultimate from the ground up. Glacial Storm is now the centerpiece: every round it casts multiple Ice attacks, stacks Glacial Drag (a heavy, stacking Speed reduction) on the enemy board, and deals bonus damage to slowed and frozen targets. The result is a spec that controls the entire fight while putting out top-tier damage — enemies are permanently slowed, frequently frozen, and taking amplified hits the whole time.

This is the strongest spec in the game after 1.31, and the devs added a new high-end raid tier (Cryo Clash) specifically for the best frost teams.

The One Purchase That Matters

Buy Winter’s Dominion and rush its upgrades. You get the ring from the Winter’s Dominion chapter offer, and it’s the single highest-impact investment in the game right now — it’s the engine that brings this whole build online:

  • Cryomancer skills appear more often and level up faster — you hit the Glacial Storm breakpoint well ahead of schedule
  • +25% ATK at Epic — rush here first
  • Rime Shatter shatters frozen enemies for bonus damage
  • At Artifact, off-expertise penalties are removed — your skill picks become almost pure Cryomancer

Then pick up the Frost Prince Ring as your companion ring: it casts Ice on a timer (free Cryomancer tag + freeze), grants +25% ATK at Epic, increased Freeze chance at Legendary, and makes Ice weaken enemy ATK at Artifact.

Skill Priority

  1. Glacial Storm (Mythic, S+) — the reworked capstone. Multiple Ice casts per round, Glacial Drag slows, bonus damage to slowed enemies. The whole build hinges on this.
  2. Arctic Wind (Mythic, S+) — increased Freeze chance on all Ice attacks. Keeps targets frozen for Permafrost.
  3. Ice Mastery (Legendary, S+) — +40% Ice damage.
  4. Permafrost (Legendary, S+) — frozen enemies take +25% damage from all sources; Slow on freeze expiry.
  5. Absolute Zero (Legendary, S+) — Ice execute on low-HP enemies. Closes out bosses in the final phase.
  6. Iron Will (Mythic, S) — damage reduction so you survive while the slows ramp.

Expertise Path

Go deep Cryomancer. Glacial Strike, Ice Volley, Ice Mastery, Arctic Wind, and Permafrost all stack Cryomancer tags. At 5 tags Glacial Storm unlocks — and with Winter’s Dominion accelerating your picks, you hit that breakpoint well ahead of schedule.

Pet Team

  • King Gloop (Slime Freeze) — non-negotiable. Stacks freeze on top of your own.
  • Fae Dragon (Moon Burst) — AoE magic damage that scales with the build.
  • Flex — Drib or a utility pet.
  • Mount — Nimbus for Speed control over your cast order.

The Rotation

Round 1: Ice Volley + Arctic Wind freeze chance start applying freeze. Slime Freeze adds another.

Round 2: Glacial Storm fires — multiple Ice casts, Glacial Drag starts stacking, the board slows.

Round 3+: Glacial Drag is stacked deep, most enemies are frozen, Permafrost amplifies every hit by +25%, and Absolute Zero executes anything low. Nothing on the enemy side gets to act on time.

Tier Rating: S+

The defining build of the 1.31 meta. The Glacial Storm rework turned Cryomancer from a control-only support into a complete spec that locks the board down and tops the damage charts. Frost is the strongest expertise in the game right now — and with Winter’s Dominion (plus the Frost Prince Ring alongside it), it comes online fast. If you’re not playing frost this patch, you’re playing on hard mode.
