Serpent Alchemist Hybrid

Flexible raid hybrid that uses an Alchemist sword for Pyromancer+Soulreaper seeding but plays in the Wizard role. Stacks Serpent Coil's scaling Magic Damage with poison/burn chaos.

Overview

Serpent Alchemist is the hybrid raid build that exists specifically because the Alchemist Debuff set grants both Pyromancer and Soulreaper expertise tags at Epic+ rarity — two specs for the price of one gear slot. Wearing an Alchemist weapon plus a mix of Guard chest and Wizard accessory lets you play in the Wizard role (for caster bundles) while still seeding the poison/burn spec path.

The payoff: scaling DoT damage that grows every round, a 2-round Serpent Coil ramp that stacks 5x, and Dragon Fire 2pc to keep your magic crits hot.

Gear Core

  • Weapon: Alchemist sword (set_alchemist_debuff weapon). The Epic equipSkill grants Pyromancer + Soulreaper tags — this single piece seeds the whole build.
  • Chest: Guard chest (Tank Shield armor). You lose the 4pc Alchemist bonus but gain 2pc Deflect’s damage reduction and a Warden tag. Survival > optimization in raids where healers are overwhelmed.
  • Ring: Wizard Bolt ring — contributes Cryomancer + Stormlord tags to broaden your bundle generator offerings.
  • Necklace: Keep your existing Time Locket or generic crit accessory; no dedicated set piece needed.

This split gives you tags in 4 expertises simultaneously (Pyromancer, Soulreaper, Cryomancer, Stormlord), which turns the bundle generator into a near-random-pick machine — but every bundle it offers you will synergize with at least one of your seeded specs.

Relic Core

  • 4-piece Serpent Coil — +10% ATK and +5% Magic Damage every turn, stacking to 5. Your damage ramp is the relic.
  • 2-piece Dragon Fire — +20% Magic Crit Damage. Pairs with the ramp.

Pet Team

  • King Gloop (Slime Freeze) — still mandatory for a caster.
  • Fae Dragon — raw AoE damage, scales with Magic Damage.
  • Jellykin (Epic Slime Poison) — specifically swaps in here because Jellykin’s Slime Poison stacks with Poison Spread and Poison Bomb.
  • Mount: Pyropod for burn synergy.

Skill Priority

  1. Poison Bomb (Mythic, S+) — Soulreaper capstone. Big AoE poison detonation.
  2. Warlock (Mythic, S) — converts DoT ticks into secondary magic damage. Core to the hybrid.
  3. Poison Spread (Legendary, S) — poison AoE propagation.
  4. Burn Spread (Legendary, S) — same for burns; pairs for double-DoT coverage.
  5. DoT Mastery (Legendary, A) — +30% DoT damage.
  6. Cauterize (Legendary, A) — reduces enemy healing; mandatory on raid bosses with lifesteal phases.

Role Setting

Set role to Wizard. This is counterintuitive — you’re wearing an Alchemist weapon — but Wizard role biases the bundle generator toward caster bundles, which is what Warlock and Poison Bomb need. The Alchemist weapon still grants its tag regardless of role setting.

The Ramp

Serpent Alchemist is a late-fight build. You’re weak in round 1–2 when Serpent Coil has no stacks and Warlock hasn’t charged. By round 5, you’re dealing 25% more magic damage than you started with, poison/burn DoTs are ticking for triple value via Warlock, and Poison Bomb has re-armed.

Do not use this build for short raid pulls — you need 6+ rounds to justify the ramp.

Tier Rating: A

Serpent Alchemist is excellent on long boss fights and mediocre on fast clears. It rewards understanding the bundle generator, correct role setting, and patience with the damage ramp. On raid 19+ bosses with long HP bars, it can out-damage Frost Opener Wizard. On floor farm runs it’s strictly worse than Pack Hunter Raid DPS. Pick based on your raid content, not blanket tier.
